Teri Lynn
Fithian Roberts
November 9, 1968 – May 1, 2026
Durango High School
Starts at 11:00 am (Mountain time)
Teri Lynn Fithian Roberts went home to be with her beloved Jesus on Friday, May 1st, after a brave and courageous journey with cancer. She was only 57. Her family extends a very special thank you to her friend and nurse practitioner, Carla. Teri will be sorely missed by her loving husband Don, her sons Landon and Kaleb, all of her extended family and friends, and of course, Murphy, Manny, Ben, Nova, Ella, and the chickens.
Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland, to attend high school and Towson State University, where she earned her degree in Physical Education. After a short stint teaching in the Baltimore area, Teri loaded up her dog and a trailer, headed west, and landed in Durango. After settling into a home downtown, she headed straight to a local gym to look for work (nothing was available), so she joined the gym, and there she met her future husband, Don Roberts.
Together, they bought a beautiful homestead near Durango, got another dog and a couple of horses, and began raising a family when their sons Landon and Kaleb came along. They have owned and run the local Fit 247 Gym since 2002.
Always a teacher, Teri spent her career in the 9R School District and also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher. Having retired recently, she became a horse whisperer with her "Think Horse" business - training people to work gently with their horses, and to think like a horse! She was always moving - super active - and enjoyed a good workout at the gym, a very dedicated yoga practice, pickleball, running Spartan races, and of course riding horses on the back country trails with her friends. She had a very full life! Blessed with a loving family, a home full of critters, many wonderful friends, an active church life, traveling, and she even played the bass in a rock 'n roll band!
If you'd like to make a donation in Teri's honor, her favorite organizations include Overland Church, Southwest Safehouse, Durango Community Shelter, and Annie's Orphans.
Please join her family and friends for a time of shared grieving and celebration of her wonderful life on Saturday, May 9, 11am at Durango High School, 2390 Main Ave, Durango, CO 81301.
