Durango resident, Terry O. Woods, 79, died of Alzheimer’s disease Wednesday, November 12, 2025. He was born in Matador, TX to Preston (Shorty) Woods and Ruby Mae Woods of Quitaque, TX. Terry was raised in Quitaque (KITTY-quay), a small farming community in West Texas. His older sister, Sharon, fondly remembers pulling him around the yard in a little red wagon.
Terry graduated from West Texas State University in 1972 with a degree in marketing. Following graduation, he joined the National Guard and served for six years as an officer.
In October, 1974, Terry married Nancy Baldwin in Amarillo, TX. They moved to Lubbock in 1980, to raise their daughter Ashley and son Trevor.
Terry built a well respected career in finance, working as a stockbroker/financial planner with A.G. Edwards, UBS, and Raymond James. His clients admired and appreciated his small-town background and the sincerity, integrity, and wisdom he showed for their futures.
In his spare time, Terry was an enthusiastic tennis player and an avid golfer at the Lubbock Country Club. The love of both sports gave Terry and Nancy many opportunities to travel, visiting the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, the British Open and playing golf in Ireland and at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. As a car buff, Terry restored a Chevy short-bed 1965 truck, and a vintage Mercedes 280SL.
In 2020, Terry and Nancy moved to Durango, CO, to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and the beautiful outdoors where Terry enjoyed many hours riding his bicycle and walking in the neighborhood with Nancy.
Terry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Baldwin Woods, of Durango; daughter Ashley and her husband Tom Geyer of Durango; son Trevor Woods and his wife Ginny of Durango; and his grandchildren, Denny, Sandy, Carolyn, and Wylie, of Durango.
