It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tom McSweeney, who died peacefully at home on the morning of January 7, with family and his sweet dog by his side.
Born Thomas David McSweeney in Elmhurst, Illinois on February 23, 1954, Tom (Tommy) lived life fully and generously. He was a wonderful son, best friend, brother, husband, father, and uncle. A familiar and welcome presence on the golf course, on the ski slopes, in the boating community, and wherever friends gathered, he brought warmth, kindness, and his unmistakable Irish sense of humor to every conversation. Whether sharing a laugh during a round of golf or enjoying time together after a day outdoors, Tom had a gift for making people feel genuinely connected and at ease. Over the years, he built deep and lasting friendships and left a meaningful impression on all who knew him. He was revered by his friends and colleagues for his kindness, integrity, and generous spirit.
Tom was a devoted family man and cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was grateful to be surrounded by so many loved ones and family during the holidays.
Tommy is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Julie, and their four children, T.J.(Thomas Joseph), Christian, Shannon, and Tyler who were the center of his life.
He is so loved and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Durango, Colorado at the Glacier Club on June 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. and in Barrington, Illinois a Celebration of Life will be held at The Club at Wynstone on September 29, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Please join family and friends as we gather to share stories, laughter, and raise a glass—or two—in Tom’s honor.
