Vickie Santistevan

Vickie Santistevan passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at home, called to her heavenly home. She was 70 years old.

Vickie was born May 26, 1952, to Joe and Nellie Mestas. She grew up in Durango and Ignacio and graduated from Ignacio High School in 1970. She married Dale Santistevan on April 16, 1989. She worked for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in the Finance Department as well as SUCAP, Sky Ute Downs and retired in about 2006.

She loved to read, doing puzzles, riding on the back of the motorcycle with Dale, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Vickie was an avid fan and supporter of Flatland BMX and always watched the live feeds of her son-in-law competing.  Vickie loved listening to music and dancing to the tunes, the Denver Broncos, was a lifelong fan of "Days Of Our Lives", was a gifted cook (when able). She is very loved by her family and will be celebrated for her overabundance of love and compassion.

She is survived by her husband, Dale of 33 years; children: Edward (Misha) Esparza Jr., Melissa Mestas, Kimberly (Edward) Santistevan, & Julie (Emmanuel) Santistevan; 2 grandchildren: Nevaeh and Kaleb; siblings: Lonnie (Louann) Mestas, Toby (Jeri) Mestas, Betty (Fernando) Martinez & Phillip (Michelle) Mestas; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and wonderful friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Jimmy and Henry Mestas.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Monday Nov. 7, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 08, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Ignacio West Cemetery.
