Everett Wilson passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in Durango, surrounded by family. He was 84 years old.
Everett was born February 4, 1937, in Hollywood, California to Chester and Nora Wilson. He grew up in Sunland, California. Everett's father passed away when he was very young, so he stopped attending school to work and support his family. He was drafted into the US Army in 1960 and honorably served for 2 years. During a hunting trip to Colorado with his Aunt and Uncle, Elvin and Martha Metherd, he met Janet Morrison and they were married 8 months later on June 11, 1966.
The new family lived in California for 5 years and moved to Colorado. Everett worked in the construction trade, driving a dump truck and operating heavy equipment. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, but loved God and family the most.
He is survived by his wife Janet; 5 children: Martin, Marvin (Laura), Clayton (Aubrey), and Clinton (Dayna) Wilson and Jolene (Devin) Vining; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister: Adele Tahi; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 4 to 6 pm at Hood Mortuary in Durango. A funeral will be held Monday, January 31, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Spring Creek Grange, C.R. 334 and Hwy 151 and burial will follow at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.
