Amelia "Amy" Yeager

July 31, 1958 — December 25, 2021

Amelia Irvin Yeager passed away peacefully at her home in Durango, Colorado on Saturday, December 25, 2021. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 2 P.M. A celebration of her life will be announced for July, 2022.

Amelia was born Amelia Irvin on July 31, 1958 to W. Arch Irvin and Jane Irvin in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Amy attended UC Boulder and graduated in 1981 and received her Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University in 1985. She moved to Durango in 1990 and worked for the hospital district and Fort Lewis College.
Amy loved her family and lived a life full of outdoor adventure. She loved skiing and hiking and the sounds, smells and sights of being in the mountains. She was also an avid reader and would quiz new friends about what they were reading, many times leaving the conversation to buy them "essential" books that she wanted to share with them. She was also passionate about justice and fairness and trying to make the world a better place.

Her sons and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She is survived by her two sons Callan Stenslien and Erik (Laura) Stenslien, and two grandchildren - Evan Zion and Henry Stenslien. She loved sharing family traditions with them and telling them about her beloved father Arch and mother Jane. Stories about trips to the beach and outings at the Irvin farm were told with passion and laughter.

Amy was loved by her siblings and their families. She is also survived by her brothers Bill (Bonnie) and Jim (Anne), and her sister Janet (Charles). They loved her for her humor, her intellect, her passion for family and willingness to be there for anyone who needed love and support. We will miss her greatly and know that she is at peace with her parents and beloved husband Richard Yeager.
